RA NA President Receives Ambassador of Brazil to the RA

On October 24, the RA NA President received Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Federal Republic of Brazil to the RA Edson Marinho Duarte Monteiro, who visited the parliament on completion of diplomatic mission in our country.

The Ambassador presented to Ara Babloyan the work done during his tenure, the steps taken for deepening the ties between Brazil and Armenia during recent years.

Edson Marinho Duarte Monteiro underlined the importance of cooperation between the legislative bodies, especially the role of the Friendship Groups’ activities in deepening and strengthening of the relations between the two countries.

Mr Monteiro, wishing the Armenian people peace, has noted that Brazil expresses its support to Minsk Group Co-Chairs, reaffirming their part as propagators for peaceful solution. In the Ambassador’s word, the quarrels between the neighbours should be solved through peaceful means.

The President of the RA National Assembly highly assessed the Ambassador’s contribution to the development of the Armenian-Brazilian relations. Noting that this year sees the 25th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between Armenia and Brazil, Ara Babloyan stated that the relations especially enlivened during the last years.

The RA NA President thanked the Ambassador for the recognition of the Armenian Genocide by the Federal Senate of Brazil, noting that the Brazilian colleagues always joined the initiatives aimed at the recognition and condemnation of the Armenian Genocide.

In his word Ara Babloyan touched upon the ongoing reforms in our country, the process of passing into the parliamentary government system, in that context highlighting the issues concerning the protection of human rights and ensuring of the people’s welfare.

The RA NA President wished success to the Ambassador, expressing confidence that leaving Armenia he would continue remaining the faithful friend of our country.
